The design of the Field Jacket draws heavily from the Barbour archive and the work originally carries out by the eponymous Department B, creating a functional, heavy duty jacket perfectly suited to the current winter weather. Based on a piece from the archive, a jacket which started off life as a traditional country jacket, this heavily customised piece was tailored to meet the exact needs of the military officer that wore it. With strategically placed reinforcements and a whole host of utilitarian pockets added to the jacket purely for practical purposes, Where he needed a pocket for ammunition, they added one, where he needed a strap they attached one. A testament to Barbour's versatility, the Field Jacket evident of the ethos of Dept. (B) and of Barbour as a whole, practicality is paramount and needs must.
